Device Based Link Routing on Smler: Redirect Users to Play Store or App Store Automatically

At Smler, weโ€™re always working to make your links more powerful. Today, weโ€™re excited to introduce a new feature that helps you deliver a seamless user experience across devices Device-Based Routing.

This feature allows you to create one smart short link that automatically redirects users to different destinations depending on whether theyโ€™re on Android, iOS, or Web.
Perfect for apps, marketing campaigns, and user onboarding journeys.

โญ What Is Device-Based Routing?

Device based routing lets you assign different destination URLs for different platforms. For example:

  • Android users โ†’ Google Play Store

  • iOS users โ†’ Apple App Store

  • Web/other devices โ†’ Your website or landing page

This dramatically improves conversion because users always land at the most relevant destination.

๐Ÿ”„ Note: Device-based routing is not the same as deferred deep linking.
Deferred deep linking ensures users land on a specific page inside your app even if the app wasnโ€™t installed yet.
We have a dedicated guide for that here: Deferred Deep Linking Setup โ€“ Click to Learn More

  • Open the same link on Android & iOS

  • Verify that the redirects are happening correctly

Once cached, your routing will stay fast and consistent across regions.

Testing is easy:

  • Open your Smler link on an Android phone โ†’ Should go to Play Store
